LEAMS EDUCATION ENCOURAGES COMPASSION THROUGH BLOOD DONATION CAMP

Date: Dubai, November 21, 2022

The Indian Academy, Dubai (TIAD) operated by LEAMS Education, saw parents of their students take part in a blood donation camp and set an example to their children in showing compassion and empathy towards the vulnerable and the needy.

The blood donation camp was conducted by the Model Service Society (Licensed by the Community Development Authority of the Government of Dubai) Ladies wing and the Dubai Blood Donation Center of the Dubai Health Authority on the 17th of November 2022 at TIAD’s premises.

The Dubai Health Authority’s Blood Donation Center which was founded in 1986 is committed to providing a safe and adequate supply of blood to all DHA hospitals & private hospitals in Dubai.

LEAMS Education, which has been in operation for over 4 decades with 4 schools and currently over 8200 students in the UAE, supported this life saving initiative by encouraging the parents of its students to show an act of kindness by participating in the blood donation camp.

Dr. Mohammed Kamal, Director of LEAMS Education stated ‘‘This was a great opportunity for the parents to join hands with the Model Service Society and the Dubai Health Authority in supporting this worthy cause. I am elated at seeing such a turnout at the blood donation camp which I am sure would have created awareness among our students on the importance of this act of kindness.’’

The World Health Organization (WHO) states that every few seconds, someone, somewhere, needs blood. Blood transfusion saves lives and improves health, but many patients requiring transfusion do not have timely access to safe blood. The WHO notes that providing safe and adequate blood should be an integral part of every country’s national health care policy and infrastructure.

Regular blood donations are needed all over the world to ensure individuals and communities have access to safe and quality-assured blood and blood products. Everyone who can donate blood should consider making regular voluntary, unpaid donations so that there are adequate blood supplies for the needy.
